Tracy
Simpson,
Registered Midwife
Combining
my midwifery, doula, and childbirth education experience, I
have been working with childbearing families providing support,
education, and empowerment for 12 years.
I
am a graduate of Seattle Midwifery School's midwifery education
program (2002-2005). My clinical experience includes home, birth
center and hospital births in both Washington State and British
Columbia. I have attended over 350 births and brings all of
those experiences to my midwifery practice caring for women
and their newborns. Prior to midwifery education, I worked with
growing families as a labour doula, postpartum doula, and childbirth
educator.
I
am active in continuing education and professional development,
having presented research at conferences in the US including
to the Midwives Association of Washington State and recently
at the annual conference of Midwives of North America.
I
am a mother of four children, all born into the hands of midwives.
The births of my own children taught me the positive power of
childbirth as a life-altering event. Providing maternity care
is my life calling. I look forward to sharing it with you.
"Knowing you were there, before
and after our baby's birth, was tremendous peace of mind. You
always made our visits so enjoyable and you were so patient
with all of our "first-time-parent" questions. But
I especially will remember how you were with him, your love
for children really came through when you held or talked to
our little guy. So all of that goes into one big THANK YOU!
I am glad you were a part of this incredible event in our lives.

Lindsay
Brimblecombe,
Registered Midwife

Lindsay
is currently on maternity leave. She will be returning to practice
in October 2010.
I
was part of the first graduating class from UBC's Bachelor of
Midwifery Degree Program in April 2005, and trained at a variety
of placements, including Prince George, Campbell River, and
BC Women's in Vancouver.
I've
always picked jobs and training that support people to take
ownership of their own experiences. My previous education includes
certification in American Sign Language, Working with Youth
in Community Settings, Doula Training, and Health and Fitness
Studies. This diverse training helped me while running a Community
Kitchens program, and working in recreation with children and
at-risk youth.
I
believe that pregnancy and birth can be normal and extraordinary
at the same time; a belief reaffirmed when I had twin daughters
in 2009. I also think that, when given adequate information,
a woman will have the tools to make the decisions that are right
for her and her family. I endeavour to support a woman to feel
involved and respected in her care and I appreciate the opportunity
to work with you.
